Below you’ll find a variety of ways to get involved with the read by 4th campaign. Find the right one for you with the links below or our call to action document and don’t be hesitant to contact us. Parents, if you’re looking for resources and programs for your children you can find pages dedicated to children ages 0-2, ages 3-4, ages 5-9, and so much more!
Here’s how you can grow Philadelphia’s young readers, today.
Advocate: Use your voice to advance the lives of our children by advocating with Read by 4th partner organizations Public Citizens for Children and Youth, Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children, and Maternity Care Coalition.
Connect: Right now, many of our young children in Philadelphia struggle with reading, but you can change this. Step up and be a Reading Captain for families on your block, building, or organization. Like block captains, Reading Captains connect caring adults in their communities with information, but unlike block captains, a Reading Captain’s information and resources are about how we can all help children become great readers. If you are at least 18 years old and enjoy helping others by making connections and providing resources then apply today!
Nominate: Are you—or someone you know—making a difference in your community around children’s literacy? If so, you might be a Reading Hero! Reading Heroes are ordinary people doing extraordinary things to help children learn to read. If you think you know someone who fits this role, nominate them to be a Reading Hero today!
Partner: Sign up to receive our partner newsletter by ! Our newsletter covers what we and our exciting partner network are up to. If you share our belief in the power of collective responsibility and want to do more, apply to be an official Read by 4th partner!
