Did you hear? Philadelphia Literacy Day 2018 was an amazing success! Taking place on an initially cloudy Saturday in May, the day grew into a phenomenal success as more than 1,200 people reported to Smith Memorial Playground in Fairmount Park to enjoy the festivities. Hosted by Tree House Books, Philadelphia Literacy Day 2018 featured appearances by Mayor Jim Kenney and various authors, some of whom – along with Mayor Kenney – read to children during storytime. Along with event partners Read by 4th and the United Way, various nonprofits, corporate partners, and volunteers helped to make Philadelphia Literacy Day happen and become such a phenomenal success.
