Black-owned bookstores in Philly to show love to

Black-owned bookstores are much more than a place to get books. They're gathering spaces, debate rooms, sanctuaries of laughter, curiosity, and joy. They offer a moment to be seen and see others. And in the eyes of our youngest readers, they're are pure magic.

Here in Philly, Black-owned bookstores have a strong legacy and trailblazing future. In fact, 25% of Philly's indie bookstores are Black-owned (seriously, we counted). A number worth celebrating considering they make up just 6% nationally.

So, show some love to these community gems by buying your next book at one of the stores below, liking them on social media, or just stopping by to say hi. Book lovers are always welcome.
